The Legal Situation: What is an Electric Cargo Bike?
A cargo bicycle with electric drive is classified as a pedelec and therefore legally belongs to bicycles. The most important legal questions about usage:
- Can I ride an electric cargo bike on bike paths? Yes, the e-cargo bike is a bicycle, with all rights and obligations.
- How fast can I ride an electric cargo bike? E-cargo bikes are pedelecs (e-bikes), where the motor offers assistance up to 25 kilometers per hour.
- Can anyone ride an electric cargo bike? Yes, just like any other electric bicycle, no driver's license is required. Riding electric bicycles is permitted for children from 12 years old. However, due to weight, turning radius, wheelbase, and general handling, we recommend using e-cargo bikes only for fully grown or adult riders.

What Does an (Electric) Cargo Bike Cost?
Of course, there are affordable e-cargo bikes. But with cargo bikes, it's like in many other areas of life: quality has its price. Our most affordable bike, the Ca Go CS70, is available for 3,990 euros. With it, you can transport many everyday loads comfortably, safely, and quickly. The Cargo Area: Children, Dogs and all the other things
One of the best features of e-cargo bikes is their versatility. They function as contemporary family carriages, dog transporters, or tradespeople's vehicles.
- What accessories do I need for transporting children in a cargo bike? In our view, there are no compromises: children need an adjustable, padded and secure seat with a five-point harness and headrest. Beyond that, we also offer mounting sets for baby carriers and attachment options for ISOFIX child seats.
- How do I transport my dog in a cargo bike? For your furry friends, the rules in cargo bikes are less strict; a secure transport box with comfortable padding is sufficient.
The Technology: How Does an E-Cargo Bike Work?
Electric drive, battery, payload, display – at first glance, the technology can be intimidating. Don't worry, a cargo bicycle is very easy to operate.
- How far can I ride an electric cargo bike before the battery needs to be recharged? We can only answer this with "it depends." Range is affected, among other things, by: battery capacity, payload, route (hilly or flat), riding behavior (motor set in economical or turbo), and outside temperature. Bosch's range calculator provides a good estimate.
- How long does it take to charge an electric cargo bike battery? If the battery is completely empty, it takes several hours before you can ride again. Bosch's fastest charger charges a 625-watt-hour battery (as installed in most of our Ca Go bikes) to 50% in 1.4 hours and to approximately 100% in about 3.7 hours. According to Bosch, the standard charger requires 5.4 hours for a full charge.
- Can I use an electric cargo bike in bad weather? At least for our Ca Go bikes the answer is: absolutely! We use high-quality disc brakes, offer a rain cover for your children and a lid for the transport box. A modern e-cargo bike is not a simple delivery bike to be ridden when the sun is out, but a vehicle for every day, for the whole year.
- E-cargo bike with two or three wheels? In our range, you'll only find single-track cargo bikes; meaning bikes with two wheels in line. We deliberately decided against multi-track, three-wheeled vehicles: The riding behavior, especially in curves, is significantly better with single-track bikes. One front wheel means less tire wear, and even though a bicycle that stands on its own sounds like a great idea, in our eyes the disadvantages outweigh the benefits.
- Electric cargo bike or pedal yourself? We believe cargo bikes are only complete with a motor, which is why you won't find any non-motorized models in our range. The electric drive enables longer distances, helps overcome hills, and makes transporting large loads easier.
