Cargo Bike for shorter people
Why the Ca Go Cargo Bike Is Particularly Well Suited to Shorter People
Cargo bikes for shorter people: find out here what you should bear in mind as a shorter rider on a Ca Go bike.
A cargo bike, particularly when it's a larger model such as the Ca Go FS Life, can seem a little daunting at first glance for inexperienced riders. Shorter people in particular – whether men or women – often wonder whether they'll actually be able to control a 2.70-metre-long cargo bike. In this article, we show you why Ca Go's cargo bikes are particularly well suited to shorter riders.
The right bike for the right purpose
First and foremost, you should be clear about what you want to use your bike for. If you're not planning to use the cargo bike to transport passengers, it may make sense to go for either the FS Vario transport bike or the agile and considerably lighter Ca Go CS, which is particularly well suited to shorter riders too. But what exactly makes Ca Go bikes so good for shorter riders?
Frame geometry, saddle and stand
The geometry of the Ca Go frames is not only robust, it also offers a very low step-through, making mounting and dismounting easy regardless of frame size or your own height. The stand on the FS models, with its wide footprint, is so stable that you don't need to hold onto the bike, for example while children are climbing in or out, while you're strapping your little one into a baby carrier, or while securing a particularly heavy load. Raising and lowering the stand is also no effort at all, thanks to the gas-pressure spring and the handy grip (EasyGrip) on the frame of the FS models. And so that not only your load, but you too, ride comfortably, every cargo bike is fitted with an easily adjustable seatpost. This means Ca Go cargo bikes are suitable for men and women between 1.55 and 2.00 metres tall (for sprung seatposts, we recommend a minimum height of 1.60 metres). The saddle is an ergonomic Ergon saddle (as are the grips), so you'll always sit comfortably, even on long journeys.
Handling and wheels
Some manufacturers try to guarantee stable handling by fitting their cargo bikes with three wheels. However, this comes with several drawbacks, particularly for shorter riders. The cargo bikes become heavier overall, have considerably higher rolling resistance, and are usually wider and therefore harder to manoeuvre. Even technically complex tilting mechanisms do little to change this. As pedelecs, Ca Go bikes are fitted with motor assistance as standard. The powerful Bosch motors are tuned so that you can essentially ride the heavier cargo bikes just like a normal e-bike, even when the loading area and rack are fully laden. The batteries, motor and loading area are all mounted as low as possible, keeping the centre of gravity low down at the front. This ensures stable handling, even without a third wheel.
The right gearing and other features
Ca Go bikes offer a wide range of gearing options, from classic chain gears for sporty riders to the Enviolo automatic gear system for maximum comfort. This means you can choose the gearing that suits your riding style and experience. Many other features also make it easier to get started in the world of cargo bikes: the FS Life's innovative transport box is not only safer, but also lighter, than most other solutions. The geared, redundantly designed cable steering enables precise and intuitive control without requiring extra effort, and the gearing ensures an extremely tight turning circle with only a small movement of the handlebars – ideal for riders with shorter arms too.
Ca Go bikes are therefore well suited to shorter adults, whether male or female, whether new to cargo bikes or a seasoned cargo bike veteran. Whether you're loading children or heavy goods into the transport box, whether you're looking for a safe family carrier or a versatile everyday marvel, you're sure to find what you need among Ca Go's varied range of models.
